6 sessions starting on April 30th. Recordings will available for registered participants.

Last year, while reading The Wonder Paradox: Embracing the Weirdness of Existence and the Poetry of Our Lives by Jennifer Michael Hecht and discussing it with various friends, I understood that the concept of using poetry as prayer was something I needed in my life. It turns out I wasn’t the only one.

Thanks to the O’Neal Library here in Birmingham, AL, I managed to bring a series of six workshop sessions on the topic to the community. There, something magical happened. The feeling of community was instant. By the second session, I made sure I had a box of Kleenex handy. The energy was palpable. We connected over poetry … then cried, rejoiced, laughed, remembered, and wrote our new prayers.

Next I’m bringing these sessions to the online community thanks to Corporeal Writing and YOU can learn more and sign up here to attend.

The course consists of 6 sessions starting on April 30th – Wednesdays 5:00-6:30PM CT. If you can’t attend at the time, recordings will be available exclusively to registered participants.

What will we do?

During each session we will focus on a theme. Have you felt immense gratitude but didn’t know who to turn to? Have you ever felt lost navigating the troubles of love/friendship? Have you felt lonely trying to get to sleep?

You’re not alone.

What if you had a poem to recall on all these occasions? What if you could embody a poem to bring out when you needed it?

I bring a curated poetry pack to share with you for each session. We read a couple of these together and then use their themes and technique to write our own. Expect to leave each session with 2-3 first drafts and ideas to take with you.

Places are limited and sliding scale pricing as well as a couple of scholarships are available. Share the link with friends who need more poetry in their lives (that’s everybody you know …!)
